We are excited to share that the application for the Medical Career Collaborative (MC2) is now open!
MC2 is an industry based model that propels high school students toward careers in healthcare through hands-on experiences and professional development opportunities.
In order to apply to the program students must:
· currently be a sophomore in high school
· attend high school in the Denver metro area
The program model remains the same with students participating in a two year commitment that includes:
· medical field trips/workshops/trainings
· an internship at either Children’s Hospital Colorado or Denver Health
· participation in weekly seminar sessions
· volunteer opportunities
· and college and career coaching
Great emphasis is placed on recruiting candidates coming from a variety of backgrounds and schools around the Denver Metro area.
The committee considers the following factors when selecting students:
· Student essays
· School activities
· Community involvement
· Student need and demographics
· Letter of recommendation
· Interest in healthcare
The MC2 program operates at both Children’s Hospital Colorado and Denver Health. At this time we have ONE central application that covers both MC2 programs (Children’s Hospital Colorado and Denver Health). Students may indicate a site preference
but the MC2 administrative team will determine where selected students are placed.
Applications are due Friday March 15th with specific instructions on the application for students.
The application is long as it requires an official school transcript, essays, a letter of recommendation and general information so we advise that students start working on their application several weeks before the March 15th deadline. *Please note, we will be utilizing a paper application this year and kindly ask that all applicants download/print the application before completing it for submission.
