How do tornadoes form? Why does it smell like manure before a big snowstorm? How do meteorologists create weather forecasts? Learn the answers to these questions and more through a variety hands-on demonstrations and field excursions. We’ll learn the basics of weather and climate as we become familiar with forecasting the weather in Colorado and across the nation. We’ll collect atmospheric data with a balloon launch, meet real life meteorologists and atmospheric scientists, and most exciting of all…we’ll geek out about the weather! Join us for this highly interactive week of weather and climate. Field excursions may include Weather Channel Denver, NCAR Mesa Lab, National Weather Service, Lockheed Martin, Weather Nation, Ice Core Lab, Space Weather Research Center or CHILL radar.
